Water companies in southern Indiana are asking many residents to
conserve water, including customers of the Indiana-American water
company in Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany

The Indiana-American Water Company is also without power and is asking
its 86,000 customers in the service area to conserve water.

"We're asking people not to water their lawns, not to wash their
cars," said Indiana-American representative Marybeth Johnson. "If you
usually do seven loads of laundry, maybe you could do just one this
time until we get over the hump." Also unplug your water softenor.

Officials said it could be a week or more before power is restored and
the cleanup in southern Indiana is complete.

The Sellersburg Water Company just got power back a few hours ago, and
it's going to take awhile before its tanks fill back up, so
Sellersburg is also asking its customers to conserve water.
